Awkward and Awesome

I desperately need something to do to keep my mind busy. I am basically bed ridden for the day so blogging seemed a perfect fit. One of the fabulous fashion blogs I follow posts awkward and awesome thursday posts and I thought it only fitting to do one of my own this week.

Awkward

  • picking up your kindergardener from school to find she has her pants resting right below her but gansta style. When questioned she responds "they got wet" this is code for I was in a rush and didn't pull them down enough to avoid destruction. When you present a follow up question of "how long have you been wearing them this way" they respond, "just a minute". "Oh so you went potty just before you left school?" "no mom I went after the field trip" Awkward- that field trip ended an hour ago, and you child has been sporting gansta potty pants for the last half of school, thank goodness for long tunic shirts and a thoughtful mother who put it on her today!
  • Watching a grown woman in which you are carrying on a conversation with completely biff it on the curb landing face down in the road and all you can do is stand there dumb founded and ask "you okay" without even helping her up.
  • Getting en EGD and a colonoscopy at age 28 and realized the people sympathizing with you are 50+, oh yeah that's because not many people my age get this pleasure!
  • Having to down 2 liters of crystal light laced with a bottle of Miralax. Then when you are one cup away from completing a gigantic feat you watch it all come shooting back out. And worst of all knowing you are only half way done with the meds they are pushing you to get in.
Awesome
  • having a kid big enough to serve dinner and clean up while you spend your night in bed and not hearing a complaint
  • Watching your kids hold hands minutes before they attempt something new just so that they know they got each other's backs.
  • getting an email that says you DON'T have to teach on sunday when you know getting to church was going to be a big goal alone!
  • Husbands who gently stroke your back and build you up with his words so you know you can do hard things
  • Flowers from your dad just because he wants you to know he is there for you
  • watching both your kids complete the monkey bars after years of practicing.
These are 100% from the last 5 days and 80% from the last 24 hours. I am off to my scopes in two hours and I may or may not feel like dying when I am done. All I have to say is the end better be easier then the beginning or I will be out of commission for the weekend, and I have way too much to do.

This is my outfit today, I am not modeling it for you seeing that I can't wear makeup, hair pins, or contacts for my appointment. But just imagine it in lilac and with a nice gray tank on my tan body and you will get the picture. I love it though I feel like the frumpy mom wearing it, oh well they said dress in loose clothes right!

  1. Hey I can sympathize with you-I've had a colonoscopy three times! But I dodn't get to drink Crystal light...mine tasted like a chemical. Lucky! Hopefully they put you out for both procedures and you'll wake up not knowing a thing! Good luck! Keep us updated on the results, I hope they are able to get some answers for you! And you should totally splurge with an after-procedure milkshake...or two! =)

  2. I didn't know you were getting a colonoscopy, you poor thing! Here you were offering to send me dinner. Speaking of which, do you need anything?! I'm sorry about all the medical procedures...no fun at all!

ps-thank heavens for fabulous casual clothes, right? They keep us in mommy land from looking too too frumpy.

  3. Good luck! It isn't so bad once it's over. The prep is definitely the bad part. I always felt good to go by evening after the scopes. But milk it for all it's worth and take it easy all weekend!

And don't forget to laugh. Because colonoscopies are just weird. Here's hoping for some answers for you!!
