Happy Birthday Me!!!!

Here is my birthday all wrapped up into one post!

We had dinner and cake at my best friends home and it was SO GOOD!!! I love it when they cook it is always delicious and just what a girl needs!

I was so excited because we are doing a mexican themed kitchen in the new home.

My parents found a tortilla press and warmer to top off my collection! 

Plus the whole kitchen basically was my gift! I love love love it!!!!

The best birthday so far because my kids were able to think of me and put me in the spot light for the day. Nothing is better than feeling that you are doing a good job and that your kids are proud of you. I always know that Brian thinks I am doing well as a mom but to know the girls thinks so too makes all the hard work worth every minute! And on that note I am off to do some "school" with those girly girls!

Girls rooms

I know you all are totally enjoying this overload of home decor but really by now you should know I am obsessed with decorating the house. I love to shop and love to put together a house that when you walk in you feel at home. i know that the modern look is very in right now but call me old fashioned because i am all about the shabby chic. Anyways here is the bedding we got the girls to go along with their white twin beds and violet Tinkerbell canopies.

Now I just have to decide on wall colors. i think we are going to do the accent wall in Isa's room violet because she loves purple and I think it will go nice with the decor. But Layla isn't a big purple fan so I am not sure what other color to do. She likes blue but I am not sure how that would look... who knows. I am trying to get everything together but i might have to wait until I get all the stuff out and see what looks best. We move in on a Wednesday so I really want to go in and paint the first couple days and then move in on Saturday to stay. that way the painting is done and dry before we ever get our stuff in there. But who knows what we will do... we still have 5 weeks to get things together!

Where oh where have my shower curtains gone..

Once upon a time sage green and violet were popular colors for the bathroom. But trying to find a nice shower curtain to match is very hard to find. Actually all shower curtains are hard to match. This season is all about the teal and chocolate. Since I want the girls to have their own bathroom just for them I am trying to make it colorful but classy. This is leaving me with only mats, towels, and assesorities. I just don't know what to put with it... I love these little girly touches don't you.

No curtain has been found as of yet. And our master bathroom is an even bigger mystery. In our bed room we have black and white bedding. Then for fun we have red accents and will be doing a red marble accent wall that our headboard will go against. So I thought hey lets keep it simple and do the same three colors in our bathroom.

I found the perfect rug. It goes great with the red towels and white ones we already own. Plus I found just the right simple but elegant additions for the bathroom.

Here it is.... nice and simple right you would think finding a shower curtain would be a cinch. But now it is a never ending sad trail that leaves me thinking i might have to change the colors. BLAH!

I Am just about to forget about design and go with a solid color and then put my efforts into some artwork instead!

Which one... which one??

So I want to put just one or two good pictures of us in our bed room in black and white and then work on getting a new one this winter with a red accent to match our bedroom. But I can't decide which pictures I like best of us!

one of the best parts about moving is getting to redo the decor. however i am having a hard time figuring out what kinds of photos to put up!

Here are some i like that we have been working on to update and change but I don't know yet!!!

Home here we come

Okay we are officially moving into the AMLI at Lexington Farms on October 7Th. That is right we found a home and signed a contract. It makes life just a bit nicer knowing that we are going somewhere and doing something. We might not be in this world of limbo forever. I am now waiting on where Brian might go to medical school. That is a big long hard wait but we are excited. The other day Brian was shadowing in the O.R. and came home in his scrubs... he was so handsome. It just fit him. I am so excited for him to be pursuing a dream. I once wanted to be a singer/songwriter but I think I am getting too old. Plus I haven't decided how embarrassing it will be to audition for American Idol. Don't get me wrong I am going to because it is on the 30 things to do before I am 30. But still totally embarrassing.

Back to the house... I am SO HAPPY that we kept looking and went to talk to people instead of going off quotes. We got an amazing deal for the area and I am in love with the homey feel i get when i walk in. And as an added bonus the girls liked it and wanted it to be their new house. Layla has been PMS-ing for like 5 months over this move and now that she SAW where we are going to live I think she might just be excited!!!!

We have a contender!!!!

After a long night of searching for the perfect place for our family we have a place that might just be our new home. For those familiar with the area it is just off of 135th and Anitioch so it is in a great location. Just a block from everything you need... grocery, sam's club, theater, park, school, and tons of resturants. They are asking a great price and we move in October 8th. Plus it is 1264 square feet for a three bedroom so that is nice. My mom is going with me tomorrow to make a final decision and then we will put down payment in.
I am excited that we can paint whatever we want because that should make the place feel more at home. I don't want to do a ton of work but i think an accent wall in all the rooms will give it a home feeling and make it really nice. Oh I just smile thinking that i might have a home to call my own in just a few weeks. It has worked out well that we have been able to stay here for so long but it is time to be on our own and make KC our new home. oh and one of best selling points is that the girls will be in the best school district. Blue Valley is top of the line and will give the girls a great head start. Now I just have to take preschool up a notch at home until we get them into a formal school in the winter. Crazy to think Layla starts school next year... where did the time go!

(Note: we will not have a fireplace because we are going with the bigger place plus we don't want one we want the wall space for a tv.... anyone who knows us knows we need the tv to be the center of our living room, we have no shame we love watching movies! -- heck the kids are as a type this!!!)

Life can't be that easy!!!!

So today we went and put down a deposit only to find that the real thing doesn't compare to the model. You know when you go to buy those perfect pair of jeans that you have always gotten you have seen them and tried them on and even though they say they are the same when you put them on no matter what the tag says they are definitely a different cut then before. well that is what looking at the home was like today. so after a hard days work we are back to square one. i hate home shopping. I do not envy those who are buying because i can't even find something to rent!!!! I might just die if we don't go to med school here and i have to do this all over again in just a year. PRAY for me and my house hunting. We are moving by the first of October but where to is still in the air.

Our Summer Adventures!

The girls found my old dance outfits and had a blast trying them on. These next pictures just make me melt. After hours of fighting and yelling at each other for looking at them wrong, touching their stuff, saying something that isn't true, or doing something not fair they find time to love each other so very much!!!!

This one Isa looks so grown up it breaks my heart she is getting so big... where did my little 5 pound baby go??!!

Swimming in our new past time but Isa seems to make the Kansas mom approach and just watch while catching up on the phone!!!!
