Christmas Morning

So we have finally got to that stage where we enjoy the moment and if we get no pictures then well at least we can remember it without them right. So this is all we got before the madness of opening gifts hit. The girls were great and we found many new( and new for our little family) traditions this year. First off I don't know how many of you have heard of Santa mouse before but he is a big hit here. See Santa mouse is Santa's little helper. On Christmas eve we have to put a light at the top of the tree and keep the lights on all night so that Santa mouse can find his way in case he gets separated from Santa.... this has happened before. He always leaves a little present just from him in the branches of your Christmas tree tied in Yellow ribbon. Well this year her left us a little stuffed animal of who else but himself.... Santa mouse. the girls just went crazy. We left cookie and milk for Santa and little cheese for the mouse. They went ballisticwhen they say he not only eat everything but Santa and Santa mouse even left them a note with a giant bowl full of candy.(especially orange slices!) Any of this sounding familiar yet to thosebergstrom kids? 

Then we headed to open gifts and for the first year.... THE GIRLS divided the presents because they could BOTH read enough to recognize the names. Yeah for just sitting back and watching... that is the best parent of being a parent on Christmas... just enjoying the moment! And thanks to a wonderful Santa who remembered to bring my Cocoamotion, we enjoyed hot chocolate and just watched. After all the kids presents Brian and I opened our 3 and thought wow we have hit that stage in life. In my house growing up Christmas morning was 30 minutes of kids opening presents and then 2 for my parents. i used to feel bad but this year i realized that all i wanted for Christmas was to sit and enjoy those magical 30 first minutes. Though Christmas did have some nice gifts like my WONDERFUL remote control for the TV. Well really it is the mother of all remotes and can turn on and program all my activities in  one button. i hit watch TV and theTV turns on to the antenna setting with my speakers all set to the right station. Then I hit watch a DVD and the amplifier, TV,DVD player, and all turn to  right input and set up for myself, as well as with all the other entertainment stuff we have filling our house like 3 game systems! It makes life for me easy because i have ONE REMOTE not 8. Plus the girls can do it themselves so i am no my way to waking up at 8 and the girls have already gotten up and are watching TV and eating breakfast themselves.... oh i dream of the day!

Brian had his highlights too because Santa brought his Super Mario Bro Wii and it was like being 10 all over again! All in all we had a wonderful Christmas. We didn't get any family pictures because Brian has been working 12 hour night shifts on overtime ALL WEEK and we haven't seen him at all. But I will post all the other family pictures in the next post!

All this snow can overnight... and Brian spent 12 hours cleaning it up in 5 degree weather at the hospital. He gets points for being such a sport. But who can pass us time and a half for holiday, plus snow pay, plus night pay, and then another time and a half for over time on christmas week! We needed the money and he pulled though. He might be frozen but he provided and that is what makes men feel like men right!

Incase you were wondering why I look so tired all the time.... this is just 4 days of laundry minus ALL of Brian's work clothes which takes about 2 loads a week!!!

So I was silly and thought maybe just maybe we could take our own christmas picture this year... hahaha that was funny. This is the best shots we got!

My Latest Creations!

I am loving all the crafty skills I am picking up lately. I feel so Susie Homemaker!

When I went out to see Kristi I ventured into the world of bows yet again so that I could teach her all my many bow making skills. (totally kidding I am still learning that is for sure!) But while we worked we both entered the land of bugs. And let me say I love making my little bug bows. i am going to make mini bugs for Denise soon and I am SO EXCITED!!! P.S. any of those friends out far away from me with girls who want some bows leave me a post and I will send them your way. Call it your transcontinental show gifts!!!!!

Also here are some cute bows I just thought i would share for fun that we put together. I love the snowman.... he is just cute!

Also I thought for Christmas this year I would save some money and learn to make the girls some gifts. So this is my first attempt at crocheting. It will be a scarf for Layla and I will make a matching one for Isa. It has a few kinks but hey I think I did well for a first timer!!!  

My next project if I get time before christmas is to make this hat for both the girls to match their scarfs! What do you think? 

Catch up time

I am at home unpacking and finding my way back to normal life while the kids are at Nana's and Papa's for the day and Brian shadows in the O.R. so i thought I would catch up on some blogging. Plus it keeps my mind busy and when you just get back from a trip that is important, I think you understand but if not then you are missing our on the wonderful ache after leaving those you love. Anyways enough about that.... here is our update with loads for pictures and videos. 

Two weeks ago we took the girls on a Christmas adventure Saturday. We hit some of my favorite Kansas City Christmas places. These first pictures are from the mayors Christmas tree at crown center. the girls loved playing with the giant Christmas toys even though it was freezing outside.  

Next we headed to Crown center to walk around and check out all the cool kid stuff there. We ran into a few friends while we were there and got our pictures with them and a big hug!

Isa still doesn't know how she feels about being with giant replicas of her cartoon friends. You will see that I am in all the pictures holding Isa because she gets "nervous" as apposed to shy!

One thing I love at crown center is the ginger bread land. Note Santa flying with his sleigh in the first picture. Almost everything but the houses move and the girls just LOVED IT!!!!

Layla pointed out everything to Isa so she didn't miss a thing.

Next we hit the City Market in downtown KC. There we met another friend.... the Grinch. Isa was really nervous here but I think they had a good time!

They had crafts where the girls made their own Grinch masks.

All in all we are happy, healthy, and enjoying our new life here in Kansas City. After a well needed vacation i feel renewed and ready for another wild 6 months before i can reconnect and regroup with my other half Kristi. I have to say thank you to my wonderful husband for a minute because i truly have the best hubby in the world. After two hour sobbing that life is just stinking hard sometimes and I miss miss miss my friend, he worked extra hard to find a way to send me out to see her. little did we know that at the same time she was having her own little break down missing me. Oh it is refreshing to know that those you love love you just as much in return. I had a WONDERFUL trip. I don't even know all the things we did. Mostly I know i got the time i needed just to talk knowing she totally gets everything i say. Really she is my other half. I remember watching my mom when I was a kid hang out with her friends and thought I hope when i am "old" (ha ha) I want friends like that. I am glad that i have been blessed with some of the greatest friends in the world. I am so glad i got to spend well needed time with one of the kindest and most compassionate women I have ever met for just a short time. Thanks Gary for putting up with me stealing your wife. Until the next 6 month get away!
